Biography
Amitoj is an accomplished journalist with extensive experience in broadcast news, breaking news production, narrative writing, digital news, anchoring, reporting, and television news analysis. Currently, Amitoj is an on-the-move international multimedia journalist driven to be a first responder providing information from the trenches. He has contributed to CNN, Business Insider, SBS Australia, Al Jazeera, Columbia Global Reports, and India’s New Delhi Television Ltd. (NDTV).
Over 14 years, Amitoj has a proven track record reflecting unique versatility as a team player, team leader, one-man band, digital writer, TV scriptwriter, editor, reporter, news anchor, field producer, newsroom producer, awards presenter, interviewer of global leaders, video editor, and cameraman. In that time, he has reported and/or anchored/written/produced more than 1000 articles/tv stories/shows in more than 10 countries.
At NDTV, the go-to news network for Indians globally, Amitoj was News Editor and Principal Anchor. Overall, he spent 12 years at the pioneering network reporting for and anchoring primetime shows like Reality Check and Good Morning India. Often he performed multiple roles including as a producer to conceptualize stories or the entire show. He is also known for conceptualizing and anchoring the first Indian news show tackling misinformation.
As an on-location reporter/producer he’s covered a wide range of events and stories – From the 2021 storming of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., Black Lives Matter Protests in New York, the 2019 and several other elections in India, the deadly conflict between India and Pakistan in early 2019 from the border, the genocide of Yazidis by ISIS in Iraq, the United Nations in New York, the World Economic Forum in Davos, misinformation from Facebook’s war room in Menlo Park, groundbreaking technological advancements in Switzerland, Football in Germany, the Cricket World Cup in Australia, and more.
He holds a Master of Arts degree in Journalism (political concentration) from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and has been a Dag Hammarskjöld Journalism Fellow at the United Nations.
